Jiu Jitsu is grappling-based martial art that uses the principals of leverage, angles, pressure and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, to control a resisting opponent in order to achieve a non-violent submission. Since control is generally easier on the ground than standing, much of the techniques are focused on the skill of taking an opponent down to the ground and wrestling for dominant control positions from where the opponent can be rendered harmless and if necessary, applying chokes or joint-manipulations.
This all levels adult class is for everyone, regardless of experience. Techniques are taught progressively, from beginner, intermediate, to advanced. This allows practitioners of all levels to learn and train together.

Hello!
We are Michael and Michele Argeroplos. We are the owners of Digg City Jiu Jitsu. We were born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. In 2012 we stepped on the mats for the first time training Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu with Sensei Jeff Brown at Brown Institute. This is when we fell in love with the art.
Soon after, we moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where we were lucky enough to find Professor Nate Daughenbaugh and Steamboat Springs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
We spent many hours on the mats, learning and growing as Jiu Jitsu practitioners, as coaches, and as human beings. We experienced many of life’s ups and downs, on and off the mats, with our SSBJJ family. One of our biggest honors was watching Professor Nate receive his black belt from Professor Amal Easton and Professor Finnie McMahon.
Long story short, within all the amazing years we spent in Colorado there were; many competitions (won and lost), pro-fights on the big stage, promotions, marriage, twins, lots of great adventures, and lasting friendships made.
In 2021, we decided that it was time for us to move closer to our family, so we decided to move to Athens, Ohio. We loved its beauty and sense of community and felt it would be a great place to raise our children. After moving to Athens, we trained at a gym in town for a while. Even though we met some great people and made some good friends there, we always felt like there was something missing.
On December 15, 2021 we lost our brother, Matthew Argeroplos. He was the reason we began our martial arts journey. We had lost a huge piece of our family unit. This event shifted many things into prospective for us. Life is short. There is no time to be complacent! So, we shot for our dreams and here we are! Many years of blood, sweat, tears, and LOVE, have gone into creating Digg City Jiu Jitsu.
We hope you will love it too!
